Towne and Country

Towne and Country brings together three artists in an exploration of architecture and place.

Carole Rafferty

Carole's paintings portray her emotional response to the complex energy of city life. Through bold line and brush strokes and a vivid interplay of light and shadow, Rafferty’s paintings exhibit the vibrancy of the urban experience. Rafferty graduated from London University and then moved to California where she studied at UC Berkeley and received an M.A. She has won many awards for her work which is in private collections across the U.S. and Europe.

Justin Wheatley

Whitney Modern is thrilled to welcome Justin Wheatley to the gallery. His work is influenced by his love for nature and architecture. Justin was born and raised in Clinton, Utah. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Utah State University with an  emphasis in drawing and painting and a Masters in Education from National University. Justin currently resides in Salt Lake City with his wife and four daughters.

William Wray

William blends traditional skill sets of realism and the sheer energy of abstract expressionism in an ongoing evolution to find the balance between two seemingly unrelated styles. Orginally making his living as a cartoonist who specialized in painted subjects, he spent many years coalescing a eclectic array of art styles, ultimately finding his voice in a contemporized reflection of traditional California regional painting that focus on humble subject matter rarely considered as fine art. William has lived in California most of his life and studied painting at the Art Students League in New York.
