Opening February 1 and on view through March 18, 2018, Whitney Modern is pleased to present essence, a group exhibition celebrating contemporary figurative painting by Brigitte McReynolds, Lisa Noonis and Jennifer Pochinski. Each artist’s distinctive approach strives to capture the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of the figure where character and essence is revealed.

Brigitte McReynolds’ work needs no translation; line, shape and emotion convey the emerging figures, from clear depiction to abstracted, ethereal forms. Inviting us to a shared experience in composing the body, Lisa Noonis conveys truth with bold color, rich swaths of paint and distilled details. Jennifer Pochinski works from observation with authenticity and spontaneity to capture human nature and the energy of our spirit.

Join the community at an opening champagne reception at Whitney Modern on Saturday, February 3, 12:30 – 2:30pm, followed by an artist’s talk from 2:30 – 3:30pm.

Whitney Modern is located at 24 North Santa Cruz Ave., 2nd floor in downtown Los Gatos. Gallery hours are Wednesday – Saturday 11:00- 5:30, and by appointment.
